Based on the theory of metal magnetic memory, the corresponding relations between the magnetic field perpendicular component near the weld and the residual stress were studied. Experimental results indicated that the distortion of plastic deforming reign and elastic deforming reign can be detected by magnetic memory detecting. And the method of metal magnetic memory has a good applied prospect in measuring residual stress of the weld.
